Beano Concerto – New percussion concerto for Colin Currie to premiere at Royal Festival Hall

Gavin’s new percussion concerto for Colin Currie – Beano Concerto – inspired by the famous comic, is to be premiered by the BBC Concert Orchestra at London’s Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre on June 3rd 2023. The piece is a fun and wild tour-de-force for solo percussion and orchestra in five movements: 1. Crash! Bang! Wallop! 2. Banana Man Takes Gnasher for a Walk… 3. Dennis Crashes In! 4. Gnasher’s Big Solo! 5. Billy the Whizz’s Mad Dash Down Bash Street! The concerto, in collaboration with CBBC, will form the centre piece of a ‘Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed on the Orchestra’ concert and will mark The Beano’s 85th anniversary.

There are two performances on the 3rd June 2023, at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre – 11am and 2pm. You can find more information and book tickets here.
